FIFA Approves First International Fixture for Kosovo

Wednesday March 5th 2014 was a landmark date as Kosovo made their debut on the world soccer stage. They welcomed their opponents Haiti to the ethnically divided town of Mitrovica. The backdrop and storyline has implications beyond the soccer field from a symbolic standpoint; with the ongoing battle of the young Balkan country’s quest for international acceptance, both on and off the field.

FC BAYERN SET TO FACE MLS ALL-STARS IN 2014

Guten Tag! Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber has confirmed (12.12.13) that the MLS All-Stars are set to face off against reigning UEFA Champions League cup holders and Bundesliga giants FC Bayern Munich on August 6th, 2014. The match will be televised in North America on ESPN2.

ORLANDO CITY SC NAMED 21st MLS EXPANSION CLUB

MLS commissioner Don Garber announced and welcomed the Orlando City SC to Major League Soccer with play set to begin in 2015. Orlando City SC has previously competed in the USL Pro division, effectively the 2nd/3rd tier of Professional soccer in North America, where is has distinguished itself a top club having won the leagues supporters shield in 2011 and 2012 (best overall record) as well as a league championship trophy in 2013.

2013 Champions League | Bayern Munich 2, Borussia Dortmund 1

The battle lived up to the hype. Dortmund stormed the gates with high octane offense in the first half, shocking Munich. The underdogs put a lot of pressure on the Munich defense with good shots on target. Munich’s goalie Neuer made miraculous saves to fend off Dortmund’s Lewandowski and Reus. The tide turned toward the end of the first half and it was Bayern on the attack. Dortmund goalkeeper Weidenfeller came up big to stop Robben on a breakaway. The first half ended with several good chances for both squads.
