NÜRNBERG , GERMANY – PRO IFX YEAR GERMANY

IFX’s Aidan Tucker (Brooklyn, New York) and his Bayernliga U19 club team – SG Quelle Fürth- defeated Al Wasl of the United Arab Emirates Pro League 3-2 in a midweek preseason friendly at the FC Nürnberg training grounds. Both clubs are preparing for the beginning of their respective campaigns. SG Quelle Fürth was in contention last season to get promotion into the Youth Bundesliga but narrowly missed out. Al Wasl (Dubai) finished last season in 9th place and play in Zabeel Stadium, which houses 12,000 spectators. Tucker lined up on the right side of a four-man backline but would later push forward and take over the right side of midfield. Tucker was replaced with 15 minutes remaining on the evening.

Al Wasl is known for hiring and sacking Argentine legend Diego Maradona. Bruno Metsu a retired French footballer turned manager replaced Maradona for the following campaign. Metsu is infamously known for guiding Senegal to victory over his native France in the opening match of the 2002 World Cup. Al Wasl has three players (Milan Susak, Achille Emana and Brazilian Kaio) who are listed with transfermarkt values of 200,000€, 1.000.000 € and 300,000€ respectfully.

18 year old Aidan Tucker of Manhattan, New York, spent the past year and a half at American professional club Real Salt Lake’s youth academy located in Arizona. Tucker, a 6 ‘ 1” center forward, had his eyes set on playing professionally someday in Europe and decided to enroll in the Pro IFX Year Germany program to test his level on the European continent. Tucker immediately made an impact and turned some heads while on trial with both SG Quelle Fürth U19s and FSV Erlangen-Bruck U19s, both who compete in the statewide youth Bayernliga.

After two trainings, Quelle coach Sami Hammami (former FC Nürnberg youth trainer) expressed their desire to sign Tucker for the 2013-14 season. Coming off of a strong season in 2012-13, finishing 3rd just behind Bundesliga clubs’ youth sides Wacker Burghausen and Jahn Regensburg, Quelle is gearing up for another successful season, hopefully with promotion into the youth Bundesliga as the prize. Tucker signed 3 weeks ago with Quelle and is excited about the opportunity that lies ahead, not only with Quelle, but possibilities that could lie around the corner should he have a successful season. SG Quelle Fürth recently announced their official partnership with Bundesliga side SpVgg Greuther Fürth and regularly sends players to the pro club after development in their own youth system.
