TSV Winkelhaid signs Canadian winger for 2014-15 season

Today we introduce another new player for the 2014-2015 season in Germany. Gabriel Antonello Dalpra is a 20 year old midfielder from Canada of Argentine descent. Dalprà joins TSV Winkelhaid.

Q: Gabriel, can you give us a brief introduction to yourself including your name, where you are from and your position on the field.

A: Hello everyone. My name is Gabriel, I’m 20 years old. Presently I’m living in Nürnberg, Germany with the IFX program. My position on the field is forward or left winger.

Q: You join us from Canada and hold a Canadian passport, but you are of Argentine descent, which makes it fair to assume your family are avid supporters of the sport. What club do you (or your family support)?

A: That’s correct. My father is from Argentina and from my mother’s side I am German …. but during the World Cup we supported Argentina. At home my father is a fan of Racing Club and I am a fan of San Lorenzo.

Q: I imagine it is a great honor to have your country in the World Cup final, a little unfortunate in losing to a strong German side. Can you talk about being in Germany during the tournament and the final?

A: The end was sad since I supported Argentina all the way, but when I went out with my friends to watch the matches (in Nuremberg) it was spectacular! It is impossible to keep a sad attitude when you’re surrounded by so much joy.

Q: Now on the subject of your football and your involvement with IFX …Can you talk about the program, training in Germany, and the player trials process.

A: The program is great, Jose (Herr Neumann) is the director here in Germany and is a great person and very professional. He helps with everything. The workouts are very intense here!  If you are physically prepared you will enjoy yourself more and have a lot of fun.

Q: You have recently signed with TSV Winkelhaid. Can you talk about your short time there so far? How was the preseason and what are the expectations with the team this season?

A: I love the club TSV Winkelhaid! The training facilities are great, the guys on the team and coach provide a great environment to be in. He (the trainer) is a person who motivates me and who you would want to play well for. The preseason was a lot of hard work; much cardiovascular preparation for a long season ahead.  The team was energetic to start the league and goes without saying that our goal is to finish in the top half of the standings.

Q: Can you talk a little about your playing qualities and what you think are your best assets as a player? What do you hope to achieve this season?

A: Right now (personally) the most important part of my game is my speed. This season I want to improve my football tactics. For example as in the game of chess, playing 4 or 5 passes before they occur, helping to create many more goal scoring situations.

It was a pleasure speaking with you today Gabriel!  We wish you all the best this season and will certainly keep an eye on your progress as the season goes on.
