BARCELONA, SPAIN – YOUTH YEAR IFX SPAIN

A dream come true opportunity came about in September for star athlete Liz Mullin from Michigan – a trial with FC Barcelona. For two weeks, Liz was on trial with FC Barcelona’s women’s reserve team, who competes in the Segunda Division Nacional league, the second highest women’s league in Spain. Mullin immediately made a strong impression on the Catalonian coaches with her sound technique, strength and speed. Day by day, FC Barcelona invited her back to their next training, carefully evaluating her to join their B squad for the season during her Youth Year IFX program. After two weeks, they finally decided to pass on her for the time being but remain open to keeping an eye on her development while in Spain for the future.

After trialing with FC Barcelona, Liz went on trial with another top Segunda Nacional side, U.E. Sant Andreu, a traditional Barcelona club. Her continued focus and drive paid off this time, earning herself a spot on the squad in this fiercely competitive women’s league. Sant Andreu are currently in 3rd place only behind the FC Barcelona “B” and RCD Espanyol “B” teams. The top three teams get promoted into the top women’s Spanish league. Congratulations Liz and best of luck this year!
