Club Spotlight- Liverpool FC

Established in 1892, Liverpool FC enjoys rich tradition embedded in domestic and international football success. Liverpool FC has a proven track record of success in the UK as well as throughout Europe. Liverpool maintains a global image throughout the world and is recognized through their iconic club Anthem “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”

In 2010, Forbes Magazine ranked the club as the sixth most valuable football team in the world (behind Manchester United, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Barcelona and Bayern Munich). Liverpool enjoys a local derby against fellow Merseyside club Everton FC. The Merseyside derby is one of only a few local derbies that do not enforce fan segregation, and has since been come to be known as the friendly derby.

  • Current Liverpool FC and German National Team player, Emre Can, came up through the Bayern Munich reserve squad that has competed in the German Regionalliga.

Domestically, Liverpool FC has won the FA Cup seven times, League Cup eight times (record) and the English League Championship eighteen times. Throughout Europe, Liverpool has won the European Cup (UEFA Champions League) Five times, the UEFA Cup three times, and the European/ UEFA Super Cup three times.

2015-16 Season (Fall Recap)

After 12 league matches, Liverpool sit in 10th place, level with Everton FC on 17 points. The club recently parted ways with coach Brendan Rogers in favor of former Borussia Dortmund coach Jürgen Klopp. In Klopp’s short time in charge Liverpool were unbeaten in his first 6 matches in charge (3 wins, 3 draws). Klopp’s first defeat was a 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace at Anfield. The defeat also ended Liverpool’s longest unbeaten run – 12 matches – dating back to September 2013.

European Club Competition (Europa League)

The outlook is promising for Liverpool Football Club heading into the November 26th home fixture against Bordeaux. Liverpool FC occupy 2nd place, two points behind FC Sion, with two fixtures remaining. With remaining matches against Bordeaux and FC Sion, it could be said that Liverpool controls their own destiny in terms of qualification. Liverpool host Bordeaux on the 26th of November at Anfield. They close Group B play with an away fixture to FC Sion on the 10th of December.
