IFX trio set to play for Zaragoza’s traditional club C.F. Hernan Cortes for 2015-16 Season

Zaragoza, Spain – In early September, IFX Spain players embarked on an unforgettable overseas adventure to Spain, to study abroad for one year in a Spanish high school, and play football within a Spanish club for one season. Three of IFX’s many players landed on September 1st in Zaragoza, Spain, a beautiful city 2 hours to the west of Barcelona to settle in with their Spanish host families, who will be taking care of them for the next 10 months.

During the first week, Nathaniel Becker (Virginia, USA), Eamon Montgomery (Colorado, USA) and Kyler Barnard (Maryland, USA) began their trials with the youth teams of well know Zaragoza club C.F. Hernan Cortes, a club that IFX works closely with. After evaluating the players in training with their respective age groups, Hernan Cortes trainers confirmed spots and the offer to sign all three players to their youth teams for the 2015-16 season.

The offer was accepted with great enthusiasm by all three Americans, who are all now aggressively competing for starting positions on the squads.

Kyler Barnard, a 15 year old from Nottingham, Maryland, normally plays as an attacking midfielder or striker. Nathaniel Becker, a 15 year old from Fairfax, Virgina, anchors the center midfield, and Eamon Montgomery, a 17 year old from Denver, Colorado, is versatile in either the center mid or center back role.

Two other IFX players touched down in Zaragoza as well in early September. Nicolas Lewis, a 19-year old winger from Rockport, Texas, was signed by well known club C.D. Oliver. Shown in the picture above, Lewis has already debuted for the their reserve team.

Last but not least, Saint Paul, Minnesota native Mikkel Sawyer, was picked up by the strong Zaragoza side Utebo F.C.
