ERLANGEN, GERMANY – PRO YEAR IFX GERMANY

In April, former Club America youth player Sergio Alvarez, a defensive midfielder from Mexico City, set out for Germany to trial with various German clubs through the Pro IFX Germany 30-day program in Nürnberg. After trialing with the now Regionalliga club SV Seligenporten and Bayernliga’s FSV Erlangen-Bruck, Alvarez landed an offer to play for Bruck for the 2012-13 season. Head Trainer Norman Wagner, last year’s reserve team trainer, was impressed by Alvarez’s overall quality of play. Co-trainer Andrew commented, “Sergio is a very impressive player. He will benefit from a season in the Bayernliga but probably will be able to play in the Regionalliga next season if he does well, if not higher. He may even be able to get an opportunity with a Bundesliga’s reserve side due to his quality at such a young age of 19.”
