Mourinho’s second spell at Chelsea ends abruptly. After spending time away in Italy and Spain (Inter Milan/ Real Madrid) where he found great success winning domestic titles and league cups, Fan favorite-Mourinho return at Stamford Bridge ends on a bitter note.

Previously in three seasons in charge (Chelsea/summer of 2004 to Fall 2007) Mourinho would lead the club to the Premier League and League Cup title twice, and one FA Cup.

The second time around would end unfavorably as locker room turmoil and a lack of form would signal all too clearly how the tides have turned for chelsea during the 2015-16 season. A 2-1 loss to surprise Premier League leaders Leicester City would seal Mourinho’s fate. Presently, Chelsea sit in  16th place, unfamiliar territory for the historic club, only mere points away from relegation.

Guus Hiddink has since been named interim manager until the end of the season.
