IFX Soccer Transfer News: Clanfield and Caskey to play Bezirksliga in Germany

With the summer transfer window still open in Europe, we continue placing our Pro IFX year-long program participants on German soccer teams that challenge their ability and allows them to acquire “trademark German fußball” aptitude. After a couple of weeks of soccer trials with SK Lauf, club representatives decided to sign Brendan Clanfield (19) to augment their roster in the striker position and the 18-year-old goalkeeper Miles Caskey, both under the coach Norman Matschke for the season 2021-22.

Born and raised in Oro Valley, Arizona (USA) Brendan spent last season playing with FC Tucson with strong performances during his youth soccer season. He decided to improve his overall soccer abilities learning from the German style and thus took the decision to entrust IFX with the task to land him in “German fussball” and continue his education. Brendan will study at our partner German language institute during his time in Germany.

Miles Caskey, a native of Manhattan, New York, just completed his 13th grade of an international baccalaureate at St. George’s School in Cologne Germany and wants to pursue a career in medicine. Last season he played for SC Fortuna Köln e.V. and moved to Nürnberg on a relentless pursuit of improving his game. Miles proudly wears the No.1 shirt and gladly takes all the great expectations and big responsibilities that come with it.

Sportklub Lauf is a club rich in history dating back to the year 1904. Located in Lauf an der Pegnitz, it owns teams competing in Bezirksliga, Kreisliga and U19 Landesliga. The season has begun and they already have three wins and 2 draws after the first five games, and will work to maintain their position in the top of the table before winter break.

Both IFX players will continue working hard alongside their footballing responsibilities with SK Lauf, complementing their club obligations with weekly training in the IFX international training soccer academy in Fürth, a supplementary soccer training opportunity for players within the Pro IFX Year Germany program.
