VfL Frohnlach played hosts to FC Bayern Munich Reserves on the eve of Easter Sunday in a replay of memorable away victory in Munich (Frohnlach prevailed 1-0).

Unfortunately there would be no series sweep for Frohnlach, as they lost out on the afternoon in front of 1,186 fans at the Willi-Schillig-Stadion. Stefan Braungardt made his coaching debut as he assumed first team duties, effective immediately. Ex-Trainer Andreas Scholl was notified his services were no longer required late in the week.

FC Bayern Munich were dominant from start to finish and overpowered their hosts. Alessandro Schöpf opened the scoring in the 8th minute. Marius Duhnke would add to the score sheet with his first in the 39thminute and then he closed out the scoring in the 50th minute, for a well-deserved 3-0 victory. Zack Mahon came on as a 70th minute substitute to try and play spoiler for the visitors’ clean sheet but it was to no prevail. “Playing against Bayern Munich reserves was a great experience…knowing most of their players will go on to have pro careers is pretty exciting (Mahon).

Mahon and Frohnlach return to action on Saturday as they visit FC Ismaning with kick off slated for 2PM.

Our condolences go out to the family of Willi Schillig, as he passed away at the age of 86 on Easter Sunday, as well as the Schön family after the passing of another integral club member, Karl-Heinz Schön on March 16.
