Bryce Fischer signs with FSV Stadeln

Bryce Fischer (21), originally from Ottawa, Canada, has signed with FSV Stadeln in the Landesliga (VI Division) over the winter transfer period. Bryce's relationship with IFX Soccer is not new; he has been part of our programs for the last three and a half years. Bryce first got involved with IFX through the summer camp, some years before he joined the Pro Year program. That initial experience of soccer in Germany sparked Bryce's interest in moving to Germany to study and play soccer, surrounded by a soccer-mad culture like Germany's.

Adaptation and Overcoming Challenges

Once in our Pro Year Germany program, Bryce first played in the U19 Landesliga for Baiersdorfer SV, where his strong performances and consistency earned him a spot on the first team and aiding in their promotional season. Despite facing multiple injuries, and with the help of the club and its professionals, Bryce was able to return to the game and enjoyed his time in Germany, adapting quickly to the physical and intense style of play. The opportunity to play and train with the men's team midway through his U19 season enabled him to adjust rapidly to the higher intensity and physicality of the game.

Bryce shared that living in a new country with a different language was quite difficult, but having people from IFX who were going through the same process or had already been through it was helpful. Trialing was always a bit stressful, but the more times you go through it, the easier it becomes. Adjusting to the environment is tremendously important.

IFX Soccer Experience and New Opportunities

Bryce's relationship with IFX Soccer strengthened over time, and the trialing process was both exciting and challenging. His new club, FSV Stadeln, plays in the Landesliga, the sixth division of German football. With a large number of players at each training session, the competition is high, and the coaches and technical staff have extensive experience. The club has been competing at the top of the table for the last few years and is currently hoping to gain promotion.

Bryce noted that the style in Germany is much more technical. He was able to use his athleticism to his advantage. Although he is a shorter guy, he adapted quite well because he is fast and strong on his feet.

Pro IFX Year Program: A New Challenge

As part of our Pro IFX Year program in Germany, Bryce has access to accommodations, tailored German language courses, and additional training sessions with our soccer academy alongside his club obligations. Additionally, IFX provides representation when dealing with clubs or searching for new opportunities. The combination of studying and playing soccer has enabled him to live and breathe the sport, facilitating his development as a player.

Bryce emphasized that the pro year program gave him lots of opportunities to train, which helped him develop as a player. He was able to train more than his club teammates. The extra trainings with IFX are definitely important, with emphasis on technique and fundamentals such as passing and receiving.

Life in Germany and Cultural Experiences

Bryce has made great friends and enjoyed cultural experiences such as Oktoberfest, enriching his time in Germany. Bryce shared that learning the German language helped him a lot, because he was able to immerse himself into the culture, and communicate with his teammates to a higher degree. The classes were of course very important in the learning process, but putting what you learned into use was very important as well. Building confidence to speak the language is very important. Bryce got to attend multiple soccer matches, such as FC Bayern, FC Nürnberg, Greuther Fürth, and RB Leipzig. In addition, he traveled around to different cities and experienced multiple German festivals both large and small. These experiences made life much more enjoyable, since life isn't just about playing. The balance has been great. It's not too much of either and allows you to improve both.
