Bayernliga Nord – Matchday 34 | 2024/25 Season

SpVgg Bayern Hof closed out the season with a crucial 3–0 victory over SV Fortuna Regensburg at the Grüne Au stadium, securing their place in the fiercely competitive Bayernliga Nord for another year. In a match where there was no room for error, the Hof side rose to the occasion with determination.

The Bayernliga Nord, known for its high level of play among Germany’s semi-professional clubs, witnessed a dramatic final matchday. Bayern Hof entered the game needing a win to avoid relegation zone in a tightly contested table where every point mattered. From the opening whistle, the home team showed their intent. By the 6th minute, they were already threatening the opposition’s goal, and in the 10th minute, Kaan Gezer opened the scoring with his fourth goal of the season. Just five minutes later, Ekui was brought down in the box by Onwudiwe, and Gezer calmly converted the penalty to make it 2–0, notching his fifth goal of the campaign and igniting the home crowd.

The match’s intensity led to bookings on both sides: Jason Sarajlic (Fortuna) was shown yellow in the 28th minute, followed by Niklas Stadelmann (Bayern Hof) in the 33rd. At the 40-minute mark, news came in that SSV Jahn Regensburg II—a direct rival in the standings—was winning their match, adding pressure on Bayern Hof to stay focused. And they did just that. In the 43rd minute, the referee played advantage, and Ekui, with a brilliant solo effort, beat the Fortuna defense and fired a powerful shot past goalkeeper Köpper to make it 3–0. The Grüne Au erupted in applause as Bayern Hof delivered a flawless first half against a Fortuna side lacking ideas.

In the second half, Fortuna’s attempts to mount a comeback were further hindered by Sarajlic’s red card in the 60th minute. Despite a few chances for both teams, the scoreline remained unchanged. When the referee blew the final whistle in the 90’+4, jubilation broke out among Bayern Hof players and fans, celebrating their well-earned survival in one of Bavaria’s toughest leagues.

At IFX Soccer, We proudly congratulate SpVgg Bayern Hof on this important achievement and wish the team a well-deserved break and a successful preseason. As they prepare for the challenges ahead, we’re thrilled to announce that Giancarlo Ramírez, a standout Pro IFX player, will be joining their squad next season. After an impressive campaign with SVG Steinachgrund — where he made 29 appearances and scored 4 goals in the Landesliga Nordost — Giancarlo is ready to take the next step in his career, moving up to the Bayernliga.

The 20-year-old Texan arrives in Hof for his second year in Germany through our Pro IFX Year program, bringing with him a powerful mix of athleticism, technical skill, and a strong desire to grow. While studying Business Management off the pitch, Giancarlo has already made a strong impression during trials. As Coach Henrik Schödel put it, “He’s an exciting player with a strong physique and great ball control. There’s no doubt he’s got the talent to go further.”
