The city of Bamberg is also the birth city of Andrew Wooten, a Professional soccer player with American roots. Presently, Wooten plays for 2.Bundesliga club SV Sandhausen where he has 5 goals in 5 games to start of the 2015-16 season. Additionally, Wooten has recently received an invitation by US Soccer and coach Jurgen Klinsmann to compete for the USA in their upcoming September friendlies versus Peru and Brazil.

Eintracht Bamberg maintains a local derby rival in that of DJK Don Bosco Bamberg. Eintracht is traditionally a stronger football club but for the 2015-16 season both will compete in the BayernLiga; as Don Bosco Bamberg earned promotion.
